MS Paint
File Types
The png file shown on the left was converted into a
256 Colour Bitmap shown on the right. A lot of accuracy in colour is lost, however, this requires significantly less storage space in the computer and can be loaded faster. Sometimes you need to use the paint fill, but it will not fill a colour properly because there are too many colourse. Saving as a different file type may fix this problem. |
Exercise: make a copy of the png file, open it in Paint, and then save it as a:
- jpeg
- 16 colour Bitmap
- 24-bit bitmap
Which file types look best? How much storage space do they require?
Cropping
Exercise: save an image and then crop it and save it as a new image.
Paint 3D
Copy/Cut/Paste/Stretch
The picture on the left has an ugly glare on it that is a distraction. We can edit this out by dragging a rectangle around an area that is similar, and then we use that section to cover over the glare. This can be done two ways:
|
Exercise: save a picture that has glare or some type of blemish on it, then cover over the blemish using paste or stretch.
Animations
Animation is a series of drawings that are played back in sequence to depict motion. Paint gives a variety of tools including shapes, brushes, and fill patterns. The process is simple: create a picture and save it, then save as a new file and make slight modifications to it. Save it, and then save as a new file and make more modifications.
|
Excercise: Create a series of pictures that could be played back in a sequence to portray motion of a video game character.
Airbrush
Paint 3D allows you to select a custom colour from the picture itself, and then use that colour in a spray can.
